Here are details from DOST-CALABARZON Media Release:
The Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CALABARZON through the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO)-Batangas, and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Batangas, brought science to life as they conducted the "Teaching Science Beyond Classroom through PSC Exhibit-Based Lessons and Lab
in a Box" for high school teachers held at Bauan Technical Integrated School, Bauan, Batangas, April 11.
The exhibit-based lessons and Lab in a Box provided to high school teachers from 53 selected schools from Batangas province were designed by the Philippine Science Centrum (PSC). The goal is to immerse learners in a different scientific learning experience beyond the confines of the traditional classroom setting. The Lab in a Box is a portable laboratory kit that contains all the materials students need to conduct hands-on experiments related to specific science topics covered in the exhibit-based lessons. It is designed for science teachers in grades 7–12 but could be adopted for other grade levels as well.
The activity also consisted of a teacher's training for the use of Lab in a Box and an introduction to some of the PSC's exhibit-based lessons. These lessons were designed to engage students and make scientific concepts more relatable and memorable. DOST Balik Scientist and a retired science teacher at Jefferson Union High School in the United States of America, Prof. Corazon S. Salumbides, facilitated the training for teachers.
Meanwhile, Ms. May Pagsinohin, Executive Director of Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology, Mr. Emerson B. Dalangin, Division Science Coordinator of DepEd Batangas, Mr. John Maico Hernandez, Senior Science Research Specialist, and Ms. Jessica G. Navarro, Project Technical Assistant II, both from PSTO-Batangas, Engr. Lenard Berba, Vice President for Internal Affairs of PFST, and Dr. Reina Ilagan, OIC Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Batangas, spearheaded the opening and closing ceremonies of the training activity.
