The Los Baños Science Community Foundation, Inc. (LBSCFI) is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary with the theme, "LBSCFI@40: Honoring the Legacy, Inspiring the Future," this coming April 15, 2024 at the CCDL Auditorium, UP Open University, Los Baños, Laguna. The event aims to commemorate the significant achievements of LBSCFI over the past four decades and recognize the contributions of its members in promoting science, technology, and innovations (STI) within the Los Baños community.
Established in 1984, LBSCFI has grown to become a strong network of 25 member-agencies composed of academic institutions, government research agencies, and private local and international institutions. LBSCFI serves as a network for science and technology institutions in Los Baños, Laguna, aiming to promote collaborative STI efforts and initiatives geared towards community development. Over the past four decades, LBSCFI has played a vital role in advancing scientific endeavors and making a positive impact not just on Los Baños but also on its neighboring areas.
The anniversary celebration of LBSCFI aims to serve as a platform for networking and relationship-building among LBSCFI members, with the goal of inspiring present and future generations to engage in scientific endeavors supported by the Foundation.
Anniversary activities will include launching of LBSCFI's Strategic Plan, emphasizing its commitment to fostering scientific innovation. Furthermore, agency heads will be presented with LBSCFI Markers symbolizing their contributions and commitment to the organization’s cause. After which, the member-agencies will renew their commitment by signing the commitment board, reaffirming their dedication to LBSCFI's mission, vision, and goals.
LBSCFI member-agency heads, led by the key officials and together with other distinguished guests are expected to grace the event. Ferrer, Director of Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau; Dr. Rico J. Cabangon, OIC-Director of the DOST-FPRDI; Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., Chancellor of UPLB; and Hon. Anthony F. Genuino, Municipal Mayor of Los Baños.
This upcoming anniversary celebration signifies LBSCFI's commitment to its mission and serves as a beginning for its future endeavors in advancing science and technology for the benefit of the Los Banos community.
